| How Premium Guest Posting Took My Site to $1,000/Month and Beyond Posted: 19 Sep 2011 12:28 PM PDT Here is my story about how premium guest posting finally took my website up to $1,000/month in income and beyond. Let me lay out the details for you. I struggled for a long time to break through to higher earnings, and I don’t want the same thing to happen to students here at TKA. I had a website that was getting regular traffic from Google. It was “somewhat trusted” from Google, but it did not have a lot of authority necessarily. I was using a “one site” approach and was focusing all of my efforts on building up a single website. I had about 150 articles or so and I had built lots of backlinks to my site as well. These were mostly article directory links or backlinks that could be easily obtained by trading cheap content for them. I added quite a bit of volume to the website by adding hundreds of articles in a short period of time. This seemed like it hurt income levels in the short run rather than helping them. But at some point I was looking through the serps, looking at other websites in my niche, and trying to figure out what could do in order to rise above my competitors. I was making lots of links on a regular basis, but nothing was really moving. I was stalled, and adding new content did not even seem to help. What could I do to get things moving again? The answer turned out to be “premium guest posting.” Premium guest postingAt one point I spent some time looking at my competitors backlinks. These were websites that were ranking above me on the first page of Google, and I wanted to beat them. Really, I just wanted to join them, and be able to rank for some of the bigger keywords as well. But building mountains of cheap, low quality backlinks was not getting me there. So I discovered that all of those websites on page one of Google had at least one or two “premium links” pointing at their site. I struggled against this answer for a long time. I thought it was too hard to get premium links. It was too uncomfortable to email other webmasters and beg them for links. I did not like any part of the process. I yearned for the simplicity of taking over the serps by building cheap, mechanical links. I did not want to have to get up close and personal with other website owners and negotiate terms or anything like that. But I saw that it was necessary if my website was going to “join the big boys” and be able to rank for competitive terms in the search engines. So I set out to land a premium guest post. Here is what I did. Landing a guest postI thrashed around for a while, emailing big websites in my niche, trying to get someone to let me post on their site. This did not work. Then I got smart. I learned how to use Google search engine modifiers in order to find websites that had already accepted guest posts in the past. These were much more likely to be receptive to this sort of thing. (This process is thoroughly outlined in our core lessons). Then I built a list of potential sites. Naturally, I ordered them by pagerank. Why? Because I wanted link juice. That is what I was after. So then I created a premium guest post for my number one pick before I ever contacted them. They turned me down. I took 20 minutes and reworked the custom parts of that guest post and re-targeted it at the second website on my list. Then I emailed them the full post. Bingo. They loved it, and promised to run it, with a link back to me. I ended up repeating this process a total of 4 times. Only 4 premium guest posts, and my earnings went from about $300/month to well over a thousand per month. What is your website lacking? You probably have quality content. And, you probably have lots of backlinks. But ask yourself: “Do I have any premium backlinks?” If not, then it is probably time to get one. Just one can make a huge difference. Get a couple of them, and your online income can go from part time to full time in a matter of months. |
