Volume Matters When Building an Online Income from an Authority Website

Posted: 28 Sep 2011 06:33 AM PDT

Not that this needs a whole lot of explaining, but let’s take a quick look:

A = every article you have ever written and published on your money sites.
B = every link that you have ever built or manufactured in order to promote your money sites.
C = The very small percentage of your efforts that actually produce income for you.

Notice that C is actually pretty small.

This is normal.

We used to use competitive analysis, because the idea that we could make the “A part” (the articles we produced) much smaller was so incredibly seductive.

Wouldn’t it be nice to make money on every single article that you put on your money site?

The reality is: competitive analysis did not work so well. Show me a website that makes money online, and I can probably point to at least half of the pages on that website that earn nothing.

Sure there are a few exceptions out there, but those of us who have made our way to a full time income online are going to have plenty of “waste.”

The solution?

Work hard. If you follow the program, you are already “working smart.” We took our biggest nerds and put them to the task of competitive analysis over the last few years, and in the end, the hard workers who just went ballistic were the clear winners. Those who spent the most time analyzing what keywords to chase after were the losers.

Competitive analysis fails, because taking a high volume approach to publishing content on your website just works so much better. Some students will say things like “should I target this keyword next, or that one next?” This is the wrong question. The answer is “yes, both!” In the long run, you want to have a large authority website, one that touches on every part of your topic, and explores it all in great depth.

Successful websites do this with lots and lots of quality articles, each one exploring a distinct idea. Avoid duplicating your ideas, but do a very thorough job of explaining every little detail within your niche. Every reader question that comes in could be a potential future post. Every additional article published is another future source of income for you.

Volume matters, and there is just no way around it.

We would all like to think that we are smart enough to publish less and somehow earn more.

The reality is, massive action wins the day.

Publish more, promote more.

Win.
